Donald Trump blasts Fox News in early morning social media posts

A Busy Morning on Truth Social

It was still dark in much of the country when Trump began his Monday online. His first posts weren’t his own words but two New York Post articles. One celebrated Melania Trump for presiding over the UN Security Council and addressing the deaths linked to the Iran war. The second argued that Trump had proved the “experts” wrong by helping steer the UN toward peace in the wake of October 7.

The Golf Course Fight

The tone changed quickly. Just after 6am, Trump turned to a legal dispute that has clearly been on his mind: the court order pausing renovations at East Potomac golf course, a historic public course in Washington.

He argued that the Interior Department has every right to turn what he called a dangerous, run-down course into a safe and prestigious one, and said the agency needs no approval to do it. He described the presiding judge in harsh terms, suggested she may be “insane,” and claimed courthouse tapes would back him up, adding that the judge had blocked their use. He also dismissed the golfer who brought the lawsuit as having “ZERO STANDING.” According to Trump, work would begin immediately and the finished course would bring money and prestige back to the capital.

The court record tells a different story. US District Judge Ana Reyes ruled earlier this year that the federal government must give advance notice before major construction can proceed, pointing to environmental and historic preservation concerns. Last week she went further, issuing an injunction against tree removal at the site and calling that action “inexcusable.”

Kansas Rally and a Swipe at Fox

Trump then shifted to campaign mode. He announced he would travel to Kansas that day to rally support for Senator Roger Marshall, praising him as one of the best senators in Washington. He called Marshall’s Democratic opponent, Adam Hamilton, “fake” and said he would be a “disaster” for the state. Trump also reminded followers that he has won Kansas three times, with the highest vote total in its history.

Soon after, he turned on Fox News. He complained that the network was spending more time defending Democrats and presenting their views than at any point in its history, and accused it of trying too hard to be politically correct. He told supporters to tune in to the Right Side Broadcasting Network for his Kansas rally, praising its early coverage. A minute later, he posted again to promise big crowds in Kansas.

Comments on France

His last post of the morning moved to international affairs. Trump wrote that migrants have “taken over France” and that the country must close its borders quickly.

He appeared to be referring to the protests spreading across France, some of which have turned into rioting and looting. The demonstrations stem from frustration over rising living costs and worsening conditions in schools.

French President Emmanuel Macron and other officials have pinned much of the violence on far-left agitators, accusing them of attacking police and public buildings to create chaos. Macron condemned what he called “unrestrained violence” by “insurrectionist elements from radical far-left groups, joined by numerous criminals.”
