Donald Trump can't seem to catch a break from the internet's magnifying glass lately. A batch of recent photos has set off another round of speculation about the president's health, and this time the focus has landed on his hands, his hair, and — once again — a strange lump near his waist.
The Hand Photos That Started It
It began when close-up shots of Trump's hands started making the rounds on X, showing what many described as visible bruising only partially hidden beneath a layer of makeup. Journalist Aaron Rupar was among the first to flag it, remarking on just how rough the president's hands appeared. Other users piled on, with one, Matt Rein, reposting the image and pointedly asking why nobody in the White House press corps had bothered to raise the question directly with Trump.
From there, the comments section did what comments sections do. Some predicted the administration would simply chalk it up to years of handshakes. Others were more cynical, guessing Trump would deflect by bragging about acing his cognitive tests. A few commenters leaned into darker, more mocking language about his appearance, comparing the discoloration to bruised or oxidized meat — the kind of unfiltered internet reaction that tends to follow Trump no matter the topic.
A Body Double Theory Resurfaces
As if the hand photos weren't enough fuel, a separate incident added a new layer to the story. Then there's the recurring mystery of the bulge near Trump's waistband, which resurfaced after another set of photos showed him stepping off Air Force One in New Jersey. Onlookers online wondered aloud whether it was some kind of medical device, a fanny pack, or something else entirely.
This isn't a new theory, either. At the time, plenty of users speculated it might be padding from an adult diaper, a theory that's clearly resurfaced with these newer photos.

Despite the constant stream of speculation, the administration hasn't budged from its position that Trump is in top form. Earlier this year, the results of his annual physical were made public, and according to the report, he shows strong heart, lung, and neurological function, with no signs of decline.
His physician went a step further, crediting Trump's busy schedule — packed with meetings, public events, and, notably, frequent wins on the golf course — as evidence of his overall vitality. The official line remains that Trump is sharp, physically capable, and more than up to the job of leading the country.
Whether that reassurance does anything to quiet the online chatter is another question entirely. If history is any indication, it probably won't — Trump's appearance has become a near-constant subject of internet scrutiny, and each new photo seems to spark another round of the same debate.
