Kendrick Lamar Scores Big Win After Super Bowl Halftime Show Performance

Kendrick Lamar's success continues to soar following his electrifying performance at the Super Bowl LIX halftime show.

On Sunday, as the Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the Philadelphia Eagles, Lamar took center stage at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. He was joined by special guests SZA, Mustard, Serena Williams, and Samuel L. Jackson. His setlist featured tracks from his latest album GNX, released in November, including "Squabble Up," "Luther," "TV Off," and "Peekaboo," alongside fan-favorite hits like "HUMBLE." and "DNA."

The 13-minute set also included "Not Like Us," Lamar's Grammy-winning diss track aimed at Drake, igniting excitement among fans.

Following the performance, Lamar’s dominance on streaming platforms became evident. Pop Crave, a pop culture account on X (formerly Twitter), reported, "Kendrick Lamar currently has the #1 album (GNX) and #1 song ('Not Like Us') on US Apple Music following the #SuperBowl."

Hours later, the account provided another update:
"Kendrick Lamar occupies the top 3 on US Spotify:
#1: 'Luther' — 2.056M streams
#2: 'TV Off' — 1.868M streams
#3: 'Not Like Us' — 1.785M streams."

Chartdata.org, which tracks music chart rankings, also noted Lamar's resurgence:

  • "'Not Like Us' has returned to #1 on US Apple Music following the #SuperBowl halftime show."
  • "'Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers' re-enters this week's Billboard 200."

The NFL’s Instagram account shared multiple clips from Lamar’s performance, including a video of him rapping "Squabble Up," which quickly surpassed 2 million views and earned over 142,000 likes. Apple Music’s official account joined the excitement, commenting with a raising hands emoji.

Lamar’s presence on social media saw a notable boost as well. According to analytics site Social Blade, his X account gained 17,504 followers on Sunday alone, followed by another 18,091 on Monday morning. This surge was in stark contrast to the previous days—he gained just 1,587 followers on Saturday, lost 24 on Friday, and added 150 on Thursday.

This wasn’t Lamar’s first time on the Super Bowl stage. In 2022, he performed alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, and others in a historic halftime show.

Looking ahead, Lamar and SZA—whose real name is Solána Imani Rowe—are set to launch the Grand National Tour in April, with 19 stadium stops across North America.

Before the Super Bowl, SZA kept details about the halftime show under wraps, telling the Daily News on February 2, "That’s King Kendrick’s performance—it's all for him to share."

She added, "What I can say is he's worked really hard on it. I’m so honored to be a part of it and to even know him, let alone exist in the same time as someone as brilliant as him."
